Default Sirius Antenna Install

Where have you guys mounted your antennas?

It says to install it on the roof, but there is no way I want an antenna on my roof.

Any solutions?

I'm my wifes Outback, I put it inside the spoiler on the back. I did that in a friends Caliber as well. In my accord, I got rid of the 6x9s so it's on a custom bracket under the speaker grill. all of them get good reception.

another option is to find an OEM Sirius antenna that you like and get it paint matched. The one on my Mazdaspeed doesn't look too bad.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm assuming from your reply and the Sirius website that it's best to use all 20' of the antenna and extend it to the rear of the car?

I don't know if mine is different than the others, but mine is a little square black, magnetic box.

It's the one that comes with the Alpine-Sirius interface.

You can try to mount it on the back deck or dash. I have done it this way many of times on pioneers units and kenwoods units. Most units you are hearing a 10 sec delay so when it goes out of range for a sec you will not know. My cars have it this way with no issues. But I know some people and customers have had issues this way too. Try it and see if it works for you. Also make sure the unit gets a good ground and power supply. This will help out alot.

^ Thanks.

I think a lot of my problem is that I do not have the unit screwed down onto anything.

It's just thrown behind my audio console.

well it sort of depends. When we had a Spec-V I had it on the dash with double sided tape and it was fine. I did the same thing in the Outback and it sucked a big one there. You'll have to experiment a little bit.

I've also found that it helps out a little bit to put it offset onto the drivers side of the car, since that helps to get it away from trees along the road. Sounds stupid but it works.

My former car was a 95 Buick Lasabre. I'll do my Civic the same way when I get the new radio in.

I mounted the XM unit under the stereo and ran the antennna wire along the dash over the column with just a short peek breaking from the dash to the kick panel. I ran it along the drivers side with the harnesses and out to the trunk.

I used the wiring clips there for the trunk lights and a couple of cheapie Radio Shack double sided tape wire holders to keep it out of the way to the center of the deck lid. I stuck the magnet to the front edge out onto the lid. It's very unobtrusive and the only drops I have are when I'm at a light under an overpass.
