Default h23vtec compression test results

I just put together h23 vtec build. It consists of h22 block not honed or bored the mileage was probably over 120k i'm guess. F22 crank rods and jdm pistons. The block and head was not milled or resurfaced tight on money. The mains and rod journals were recut and i used the acl .25mm for mains and rods. Stock head gasket with arp head bolts and stock cams. I also lapped my own valves and purchased all new intake and exhaust valves and reinstalled them also. Without starting the motor compression tests were 210 270 250 260. Then the motor started on the 3rd try with a basemap from my boys h23vtec setup. I let it idle for 20min at idle perform another compression after that.

The results were 240 260 260 270.

The motor isn't broken in yet i just did the 1st oil change after almost a week. But wanted to know from the other h23V builds for a static compression of 11.6cr is this rite or should it be higher.

thanks

I would love 2 start this thread off with h22/h23V builds
name the piston size crank rods and ur estimated compression so that we can compare.

it's been maybe about 150 miles that motor has been driven. But it idles perfect and smooth and drives nice and it's very torquey.

oh ok thanks. Have u compression test ur motor yet

before the crank and rods new pistons and all the motor was on 100 shot and 125 wet for about a 2yrs. So these numbers are ok for 11.6cr even though the motor is not even broken in yet thanks. I would love 2 hear numbers from other h22 that's been built with stoker and high compression just 2 compare.

Thanks in advance.

ive never compression tested mine, but your numbers are fine. Dont worry so much about the peak value. You want to concentrate on how close each cylinder is to each other and yours are close enough.

240 - 270 is pushing max variation isn't it? OEM specs for the maximum variation between cylinders is 28-30psi? Not sure if it differs with a hybrid or not. No matter what, I would imaging 30psi is a bit on the high side. Try a leak down test and see where your loosing that 30psi. It will be one of three places rings, Intake valve or exhaust valve....

If you hear a hiss coming from the valve cover breather hose, oil fill hole, or dipstick tube it's your rings.
If you hear a hiss after opening the throttle body wide open it's your intake valve.
If you hear it hissing at your tail pipe it's your exhaust valve.

Yea i know about the leak down and all. I'll do it when i get some more miles on it. I'm gonna be doing a test every fri. And see what happens today the tests were
240 270 260 270

number 1 piston has some oil on the piston so i'm assuming the oil rings haven't seated yet. When i get off the throttle the wideband doesn't go lean untill it get's under 3,000 rpm so i gotta break it in. Gonna do another oil change and use non detergent oil i hear that helps the rings to seat in the short period of time. I also might try the engine restore also. As the number cyl has some gouge's that u can get ur finger nail stuck in.
