Jody's (EagleR's) memorial service and funeral were very touching.
His parents are remarkably well composed, and are taking the death of their only son much better than anyone could expect, looking for the positive side. Apparently, many of Jody's friends have told his parents that they were going to stop racing on the street as a result of what happened to Jody, and during the service his father mentioned this, saying (not a direct quote) "perhaps that was why he was put on this earth." Jody had just finalized a deal to race with a Formula 2000 team, today he would have been fitted for his car. Tomorrow would have been his first outing in the F2000 at Nelson Ledges. The team owner said a few words at the service; "I regret not being able to see the look on his face after his first few laps in the formula 2000 car." The church was full of people, many of whom the parents did not know directly, but the last thing his father said at the service was, almost laughing "...and he told us he didn't have many friends!"
Myself, Turtle, and SoCalITR were there, and the father wanted a Black Type R (like Jody had) in front of the hearse...I took the point, and was honored and moved to have the position. The procession was huge, full of family, friends, and a bunch of cool cars, just the way Jody would want it. His family is going to buy the car back, and some of his friends are going to put the engine and drivetrain into a fully stripped CRX, painted ITR black, a project Jody wanted to do someday.
Jody's getting fitted for an F1 car today, somewhere
Thanks to all that donated for the flowers and to the Make a Wish foundation. His parents and friends said that Jody was all about having fun, so everyone go have some fun in his honor, but keep it safe, always.

It nice to hear the parents are not bashing motorsports after what happened to their son. They seem very supportive of their sons' decisions.

Yea, his parents wanted all the black type R's out front, but the person who started the procession didn't understand, oh well. Ihad talked to his parents the other night, and they are handling this very well, considering the circumstances. The doctors expect his girlfriend to recove, however she is being kept unconscious to aid in her recovery.
It was good to finally meet you Scott, too bad it couldn't be under btter circumstances. See you Saturday.
