Does a ZC hood clear a B18?
I am having the same issue everyone else has with a B18 in a CRX(The damn hood wont shut). I am done with the swap and want to buy a hood rather then cut the frame on the one I have cause my hood is **** anyways.
Spacers on the hinges or lowering the engine with washers and making it crooked are not an option for "me".
Anyone know what ("Fiberglass" I hate carbon fiber) hood offers more clearance then stock?
I like the ZC, it reminds my of the hood on the TSi Talon I used to have.

I found out that it indeed does not fit any better than stock with a B18. I found a pretty in depth post on Superhonda about it.
Supposedly someone makes a USDM fiberglass version of the SiR hood and that is what I need to find.

I bolted the hood on and put some turtle wax on the timing belt portion of the valve cover. I gently closed the hood till it touched the valve cover. I then proceeded to beat the parts of the skeleton flat with a hammer that had wax on them.
The hood now closes and a ZC hood is on order. I will have to modify it a little bit but its cool.
I suspect LS swaps dont have any trouble because a VTEC head is taller than an LS head. I have an LS head on the shelf and just by looking at them the VTEC head looks taller.

Well I can definitely verify that a B18 VTEC engine in a 88 CRX with Hasport mounts will have hood issues.
Fiberglass ZC hood has been purchased. Time to put some show with the Go.

I can verify that a b-series vtec engine, in my case a b20/vtec (b16 head) w/ hasport mounts has hood clearance issues. put spacers in mine for now till i can afford another hood.
im running HCP mounts in mine and both my stock hood and VIS CF ZC hood close with no issues and im running a LS Vtec set up in my crx. no spacers needed.
Depends on the car and mounts.
All the EFs seem to be off a bit I've never seen two the same exactly, I guess age is getting to them.
I had a b16 no problems with a ZC hood, GSR no problems my lsvtec i needed to shim.

A little update:
A ZC hood does nothing for clearance issues witha b18 VTEC engine. Since the hood is fiberglass and there is pretty good gap between the underside of the hood and the top layer. I was able to heat up the portion of the hood that was contacting the valve cover with a small hand torch and gently massage it up out of the way.
A USDM SIR hood would have been the way to go.
