Default B16A Intake Poll

The stock one is too quiet, but it does a better job of keeping the air cool, yet it's more restrictive. VTEC could sound a lot cooler too. Better filtering?

The short ram sounds intoxicating in VTEC, makes more power, but supposedly it's more prone to heat soak. My butt dyno tells me it's faster.

I don't have money to spend on a Comptech intake either, because that's the best of both worlds.

By the way I have both the stock intake and a short ram and am not going to purchase anything else.

Test Test Test on a dyno every motor is different just have to test a few diffrent setups to see what works the best for your own personal setup

Use the stock intake box but remove the resonator in the fender and add a K&N filter. That's basically what the Comptech box is. The main restriction on your stock box is the stock filter.

Also, using the stock box you won't need to worry about heat soak or cops ticketing you for an illegal intake.

ARC intake box is sick. I love the sound of the short ram.

c-t engineering intake kit is great. You get the large diameter of the short ram and an air box that pulls air from behind the bumper.

Any short ram intake with any filter would be good enough for your b16a. Ebay or not, just anything thats 64-66mm tubing with any filter to attach, like the good old K&N filter.

+1, add a velocity stack at the end and a filter to go around it and you're set.

I like the idea of a Circuit Hero velocity stack since it makes more hp/tq (plus I have the shift extender ) but the 6" K&N filter on it looks redonculous.

They sell 3" intake tubes and couplings at AutoZone but to fit it to the stock filter box you would need to shorten it.

Well, I tried all of the above. I currently am running a generic short ram, it's a 3" diameter and the length is exactly the same as the stock intake, but it's so loud! It's only really loud when I hit VTEC, but man, seriously, it's loud. My butt dyno can't tell much of a difference since the rest of my engine is stock right now. I sold my Mugen 4-1 and RS*R Exmag, but I have a 2.5" setup coming sometime.

x2 I have it, very pricey setup but well worth it. Short ram that gets cold air it really is the best of both worlds you wont ever hydrolock which is usually the worry with CAI. Feeling the heat in the engine bay I woul not puta short ram on my car. I replaced my comptech foam filter with a K&N cone. The CT foam filter was just gone it was falling apart and I got a K&N which is my prefered brand for filters for the same price and I know it wont fall apart and crumble after so many miles. IMO you cant really tell much difference in intake setups
