I want to get and oem SI grill on the car but I dont want to buy the whole thing i was wondering if i just can swap out the inside part like take out the regular insert of the grill and put in the mesh part of the SI grill

 

Where are you getting the inside of the grille?
If you have a 99-00 civic then in whole they are swappable
Not sure if you can swap inside only.

96-98 wont fit.

you cant change it, because the outter piece of the regular grill is different from the si outter grill

 

The EX surround is a different size than the Si surround.

It's probably going to be cheaper to buy the entire thing used anyway. Just paint it when you get other parts painted.

 

Trust NOFX, the king of factory specs haha. But yea, I've tried swapping the mesh part from my old EX with an Si and ended up having to buy a Si grill anyways.

No. Look into a '96-'98 Civic Type R grille.
That's great. But they might not fit perfectly. It seems easy to get '96-'00 Civic front ends to fit wonky anyway.

 

i just ordered hastily a 99-00 grill and lip will they fit on my 96? or do i have to get them swapped?

'96-'98 Civic front end parts are for '96-'98 Civics.

'99-'00 Civic front end parts are for '99-'00 Civics.

The lip might fit, but it won't fit well. If you want that look, go with an aftermarket Type R Style one. That lip looks bad on that front end imo though.

 

i got my grill for .80cents and paid $25 shipping, lol

my type r lip cost me 150bucks front and rear. fits good, just put double adhesive. =]

i know the front grille is the ebay "type r" front grille but the emblem i dont know how the guy did it.. looks the stock emblem in the ebay grille... well.. ideias about how to do this on my 99 civic ?
