Default Audio Newb needs guidance on first system..

I listen to folk/indie/acoustic, Hardcore/Metal, Rap, and electronic...

I want something that sounds good for that range, has some nice bass, and doesnt break the bank...

Its going in a ek coupe.. I already have a deck.. the rest is stock and needs replaced...

Budget of $500-800

suggestions for speakers, amp, subs?

Infinity reference 12in DVC 4ohm in a sealed box.

A monoblock amp that outputs at least 300watt rms into 2 ohm.

After you install that, then decide if you want speakers or not.

EDIT: What deck do you have?

I went and talked to the local stereo shop... I'm going to get infinity speakers for the doors and rear deck as well.

I would go for the kappa series depending on what deck and features you have you can tune it to get very decent mid bass, mids, and highs. Then just save what you have and add a few extra buck in the future and get a amp and sub.

i just ordered a bunch of ebay ****...

i got a dvd in dash for 177 shipped, and it works perfect, then i ordered a 1000 watt 2 channel amp that is bridgable to 1 channel and 1 ohm stable, then ordered some cheapo 15 inch subs, and a 15 inch box for 2 subs...

payed a total of 390 for everything shipped..

i already have alpine 6 1/2 in the door and 6 x 9 in the back, but im going to need a amp for the high's

if your looking for cheap i would shop ebay.. make sure it has a 1 year warranty and an exchange warranty incase it is broken

i honestly dont care about name brand ****.. i used to have a kicker system hit hard as ****... 2 kicker L7 12's .. kicker class d 1200.1 with a dyno sheet rated at 1490 at 1 ohm with mb quarts in the front and rear... and a 600 watt amp to power those i loved it sounded great, i spent like 3k on it 9 months later, it all got jacked when i was at work, and i never bumped it on the road, just low levels...

thats why i dont spend money on expensive name **** **** theives...

but if i were you, i would get an 800 watt amp, and one 12 in a sealed box if you have a coupe or larger, and a ported box if you have a hatchback.. i honestly think ported boxes in hatchbacks sound cleaner then sealed, then get an amp for your high's maybe a 300 watt or a 600 watt something around there to keep up with the bass

good luck
