b16a into ef running on 2 cylinders
well i have a jdm b16a swapped into my ef civic sedan and its running like crap chugging along with a high idle. all of the cylinders are getting spark. i pulled the plugs to see if they were getting fuel and cylinder 1 and 3 were dry. all of the injectors however are getting power (i grounded them at the ecu with a test light). when i grounded 2 and 4 the motor chugged even more and then died. when 1 and 3 were grounded nothing happened. im going to pull the rail when i have some time this week and try swapping injectors and see if its an injector issue, but is there anything else that could be causing this issue? im obviously going to need to double check the wiring on those two cylinders, but what about the main relay or anything else in the injector circuit? also when it was running the stock d15 dpfi it had a code 16 for the injectors, i replaced them with some junkyard ones and the code remained, i just left it at that because it had no effect on the driveability. any insight is greatly appreciated thx
The problem is called "a dual point to multi point conversion gone bad".
You f*cked up the wiring, plain and simple.
With dual point wiring the primary and secondary injector are double pinned to the ecu. When wiring multipoint you split pins A1 and A2, and A3 and A4 to provide signals independently to each of the four injectors. Wired incorrectly, it will create symptoms like you describe.
You should be able to do continuity from each injector to the ecu and pin them out to be A1-injector 1, A2 injector 2, etc. Then, the other wire from the injectors should have continuity to the resistor box, and then the 12v power supply to the resistor should be verified. You also have to add pins and wiring for the extra sensor in the distributor. Your wiring is incorrect.
