ecu problem on my 4dr eg
ok i have a 4dr eg its a lx so i bought it with a d16z6 but they never changed the wiring so it has the non vtec wiring ..i tried 2 different p28 on it to then run he vtech directly to it ...but wen i put the first p28 n turn on he car couple of seconds later u smell smoking coming out of the ecu n it happen with the second one to...can anyone help me out plz
I had somewhat a similar problem except my car was having some electrical problem. I would plug up the ecu, try cranking it and it would smoke. Come to find out my IAT wires on my engine harness was grounding out each other. Fixed it, and now the ecu isnt smoking.
Was your car running? Same problem with the original ecu that came with the car? or just on the new ones?
Make sure your wires that you ran from the Vtec solenoid to the ecu isnt exposed and grounding and shorting out on something. Make sure its all taped up where you connected each wires.
Goodluck

its works great with the old one..i havent coonect the vtec wires to the ecu..i was just trying to change the ecu to put the p28 ...but when i put any other p28 or p07 it started to smell like smoke idk
Thats wierd. Maybe the Ecu is bad? Maybe try a 3rd P28? If that burns too, it has to be electrical issues.
In my case, it was my harness. And it burns every ECU I plug up.
