white smoke = coolant in the combustion chamber. if its got a new head gasket, it might have a warped head, did you check it for straightness when you had it off? improperly torqued head bolts? get a coolant system pressure tester and see where its leaking at.

valve stem seals would cause blue smoke.

white smoke = coolant in combustion chamber
blue smoke = oil in combustion chamber
black smoke = too much fuel in combustion chamber

Before you just drop cash on a z6 head you better make sure that your block isn't warped. throwing a new head on the car if it's coolant isnt going to solve your problem. Is the smell sweet or does it smell.....well....like burnt oil? Changing the head would not necessarily make the smoking go away. If it happens to be bad valve stem seals in the head, and if the z6 head is used there is always a chance those seals may be bad as well.

Does the car hesitate at all? Have you pulled the spark plug to see if possibly you are getting oil down in the spark plug tubes? My HF did this and I found my spark plug tube seals were shot and needed replaced.
