Simple Bolt ons. Yes or no?
Now i know im not going to experience any real huge gain in power and tq from puttin on an aftermarket intake or header etc. but are boltons useless if i dont rly have a built engine or aftermarket valve train etc. for them to compliment? Im asking this because i would like to make my car a little bit quicker or "torquey" :D . But if i dont plan on spending a lot of money to build and run higher compression pistons or different cams and such will i just be wasting my time and money putting on the typical bolt ons? Any advice is appreciated too. I just cant decide if i should just suck it up or buy some simple bolt on mods. I know bolt ons dont rly produce much more power but will any give me anything noticeable? I know slapping on an AEM CAI intake wont "add 12 hp" like websites say ha
from what ive heard there is really no point in upgrading your intake unless you are going to put a turbo on there to force the induction. exhaust might give you a little gain but really all it would do is eat up some more gas and make your car louder.
if anything a cold air intake wouldn't hurt

On our cars, you can even just pull the stock airbox and clamp a big 'ol cone-style air filter on the end of the cheap plastic intake tube for a couple HP and a neat sound. Or just grab a $30 ebay intake kit. If you're not going to dig deep into the block, all you can really do is keep things from getting in the way of the air flowing in and out. If you're a DIY kinda guy, you could pull the head and flow-match the intake and exhause ports with a dremel.
There's lots of stuff to do; it's motor swaps and boosting that get expensive. And all the chassis stuff that goes with helping your car hang on to the extra HP of a heavily built or turbo asperiated motor. But I'd start with the Ebay intake. You'll make a couple HP, and feel and hear the difference almost immediatly.

O RLY? ha well... im sure i wont feel jsut intake at all... it just sounds cool, but even with full bolt ons will i really notice any gain? to feel any difference id think it'd have to be atleast a 25hp gain overall. i doubt anyone could feel 3... or even 10 hp more
Ebay intake is the way to go if you want an intake, Only ebay for intakes though.
Headers, depends on what type of headers you get. It all depends on the collector size though.
Exhaust, WS2 for the win.
If you are looking for power you can feel with minimal work go with a nice regrind cam from bisi. Those things will get you started.
Okay thanks for the info, would a cam regrind require tuning? im not looking for some lopy idle ha a very moderate one if that if i go that route. And as far as the apexi WS2, do those sound nice on our cars? dont want some fart can...

Personal opinion: if you're not mechanically sensitive enough to feel a 3-7 hp gain, you don't belong under the hood of a car. If you know your car well, you'll notice all kinds of things, even more subtle than modest hp gains. On my old RX7, I knew when the differential mounts needed replacing without ever crawling under the car. It just takes time and careful observation.
http://www.bisimoto.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=30There's some dyno's of a level 2 cam in an F22b making like 14+ whp without tuning. Only nitrous is a better bang for the buck. Unless you're going to tune, other bolt-ons are pretty pointless unless you just like to be loud and get attention.
