Can someone educate me on the Odyssey transmission problems?

A simple web search will find many links.

Questions:

- What is the problem? Is it basically because the minivan is too heavy for the "car" transmission?

- The Pilot = Odyssey. I have not heard of transmission problems with Pilots. If anything, Pilot owners are more likely to go off pavement than Odyssey owners.

- 09 Pilots have "heavy duty cooling." Is that the solution? Is this transmission problem a heat / stress related issue?

- The bolt patterns on the 09 Pilot is now different, where as pre-08 Pilot and Odyssey are exactly the same. More reason to think the drivetrain is the same. I believe 09 Pilot is like the Ridgeline. So perhaps Honda see a need to make Pilot's drivetrain "stronger," because Odyssey's too weak.
