Default first time D series owner help!!

ok so im buying a 1998 honda civic dx hatch in great condtion with low miles. now it has ofcourse the d16y7 and i have a few questions for you d-series gurus.
*when doing the Y8 head swap is there a plug on the block that i have to unplug to get oil pressure to the vtec oil pressure switch?
*like a ls-vtec do i have to find a place to put a knock sensor or is it on the Y8 head?
*Can i use a head and intake manifold off of a automatic and then find a ecu for a manual?
*Rywire makes a vtec install kit for the mini me swap to make it plug and play and all i do is pin it in the ecu. would that be a good choice?
* and any other tips for owning a d-series

there is no such thing as an "auto head". a head is a head. nothing different from a "manual" head. a motor is a motor. NOTHING different from auto and manual

dont listen to these doubters, you can make a D16 plenty quick.............understanding what components it needs and why it needs them is most of the battle.

to lileghatch: the reason a B18 makes more power is its larger displacement and has a huge advantage since it has 2 cams running 16V instead of 1. same idea applies to a 350ci V8. more displacement means more potential for power. BUT there is PLENTY of potential in the D16.

ive asked this before and i really wish someone could explain to me the general idea that D series is HUGELY inferior to B series. anyone have any input on that?

the d16 is great for dd and the fact that i love how u can smash on a d16 all day and silll get good mileage, if u want extra power i would add d16a1 pistion,d16y8 IM, and d16y8 tranny. best bang for your buck. gl

wow thanks every one for all the replys. i already new about useing d16A1 pistens from a gen 1 integra matched up with the y8 head, after that i think it would be a pretty quick car. maybe it could keep up wit my friends 91 b16 hatch we just did. most likely he will leave me in the dust. haha who cares i have AC!!
