i was wondering if anyone knew what my problem might be. I recently bought a crx and when i put the key in the ignition and turn over so i can see the lights in the dash, those lights dont come on. When i try to start the car it turns on but when i let go of the key the car shuts down and dies. Also when i try to start the car and HOLD DOWN the key the car keeps running and stays on but once i let it go the car shuts off.

sorry if i couldnt explain it right but thats basically how it went.

 

Hold down meaning you have the key in the start position???
And the starter stays engaged???
And when you let off it dies???

Explain some more, and be specific.

 

hold down as in turning the key all the way to the right to turn the car on and hold the key at the same spot

and when i let the key go like your suppose to after the car turns on... the car shuts off

Sounds like a faulty ignition switch.

 

yea i went out and bought a new ignition switch but it was doing the same thing as the old one. one thing my bro noticed was that on the white plastic part behind the ignition switch there was one sauderd part that seemed to be re-saudered?

my bro also said something about maybe having to get harness for that ignition switch?
