H23 wont start/replaced head gasket? Help

Icon6 H23 wont start/replaced head gasket? Help

i just replaced my head gasket on my h23a1 and i tourqed all head bolts to specs,timed it perfectly changed spark plugs to correct firing order on distributor checked all vaccum hoses and wires and hoses, cant find anything! it sounds like a honda turning over but wont start. any ideas anyone?

check and re-check EVERYTHING you did,

reattach ground wires?

all sensors pluged back in?

distributor pluged in?

check rotor and cap

check spark plug wires are correctly pluged in

99% sure you have the distributor 180 out. Set timing at #1 tdc pull of the distributor and make sure all the marks line up on the groove

Check the ECU ground on the thermostat as well as other grounds.

How are you checking the timing?

i checked the timing on the crack sprocket buy the key mark and lined it up with the little arrow on the block

when i had the firing order firing 1234 the car ran but ran like **** but when i switched firing order to 1342 the car turns over great but no start. any other ideas? its got 2 b something simple

How'd you manage that? They're keyed so they only slide into the cam correctly, unless you put the rotor button on backwards, which can happen on the older ones that aren't keyed

You sure you have the firing order correct? Dont forget that cyl 1 is furtest from the dizzy.
