Default D16a6 build

Ok so I'm wanting to build up my 89 si rex and was looking for few suggestions. The whole engine itself is 200,000 miles old, but is clean and runs smooth.

First of all, I'm replacing the head gasket soon so I want to do as much work to the head and lower block as I can while I have it disassembled. I'm also wanting to keep the motor pretty bullet proof because I'd like to turbo it eventually. I'm looking at boring it out and re-sleeving it to a 1.7l displacement. I know I'll need larger pistons and new piston rings, so where might I look for these parts? I also assume that I'll need a larger gauge head gasket, will that have to be custom with the larger bore? For the camshaft I was wanting to get a toda cam, but was worried that they might not be street legal or emissions friendly.

Since I'll be sending the head in to be resurfaced a friend of mine suggested having the valves ported and polished which I'm not to aware of what that means.

Now I just need help in what else I will need that I haven't thought of, possibly drive train changes and other small parts that may need changing or replacing. Also I was hoping you guys could give me an idea of what is involved with a stroker engine?

Thanks and sorry for all the questions!

How is he going to update when no one has answered his questions?

For the pistons, pick your manufacturer of choice. These slugs aren't OTS pieces so prepare for a wait from 3-6 weeks.

The head gasket can be picked up from a manufacturer such as Golden Eagle of Over sized head gaskets.

Does Toda even make cams for the D16A6? If so, why pick a cam without figuring out exactly what you want to do first.

And after all is said to done, always balance ($ per modification) / hp ratio. You may find out at this beginning point it may be more cost effective to go with another class of engine.
