Help with 1998 Accord fuel issue? Please!
Problem:1998 Accord EX 4cyl.
Symptoms:
Well, the car will only start with gas fully engaged.
Car will only stay running with gas fully engaged.
What gives?
Fuel pump, a relay? filter? clogged injectors? Any idea will help so I know exactly what to look for in a few hours when I go to work on it. It's my sisters and I've not dealt with anything like her problem before.
Thanks in advance, I appreciate any helpful advice.

try the fuel filter,, could be partially clogged and when you give it full throttel its just getting enough gas to run the motor, if that dont work u could check your injecotors but im guessing fuel filter hope this helps man
Thanks. That's what I've planned on checking first. It's obviously not getting enough fuel which is what leads me to believe something is clogged/going bad.
Seems as if on the 98, the Filter and pump are in the gas tank. Filter supposedly never needs cleaned or replaced. So I'm hoping maybe a light tune up with plugs and wires, and checking injectors does the job. Any other ideas?
Well, a little progress.
Storms were moving in so we had to end early, but it is running on it's own , keeping a steady idle.
I ended up tightening the throttle cable. Would this be any evidence as to the TPS going bad/being worn?
It drove and shifted fine.
Transmission was just rebuilt on this as well.

Tightening the throttle cable how much?
6th gen accord fuel filters are a sock type that fits over the pump inlet. Yes it can sometimes be a pain to pull the pump out, but atleast you don't have to drop the gas tank to do it.

I didn't measure how much, just enough to keep the idle steady.
I just want to know if it's evidence of something else going bad or if the transmission being rebuilt had anything to do with it at all?

it is possible that when they rebuilt they tranny and put it all back together that they didn't tighten the throttle cable all the way.
The car was my sister's. She had been wanting a new car for a while anyway. It had been wrecked and repaired to new a few times. Ended up getting a $3,000 trade in on it (which is very good I think) on an 09 Nissan Altima, loaded.
