Another Brake Rotor Removal thread, but easy question
hey guys my rotors are warped/worn so im going to take them to the machine shop and have them machined. (if they are too far gone, about what am i looking to spend for new cheapo rotors 89 civic 4door)
i went to this thread:
https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/%5Bfaq%5D-how-diy-brake-rotor-replacement-no-abs-864784/
but all the pictures are gone so my main question for this post is what are the two 17mm nuts this guy is talking about in step 3 does anyone have a nice DIY with pics or pics of the nuts he is referring to in step 3.
thanks in advance!

the 2 17mm nuts are on the back of the break caliper there's one at the top and one at the bottom when you look back there you will see them but the bitch of it all is getting those 2 Philips screws off the rotor be careful not to round those if you see there starting to round go rent/buy a punch screw driver and for the price go to auto zone there only like 20-40 dollars
proper name is "impact driver" (punch screw driver). its pretty much required to take them off.
btw, any topic on them will have ppl say you dont need them, leave them off. you may not NEED them, but its good to have. i dont like my rotor shifting when i take my wheels off.

im not even gonna fool with those screws ill just be drilling them out, i already know how hard they are to take out and they really arent needed, i think they are just put on from the factory to hold it on before the wheel
i dont have an impact screw and i used a big philip screw and pound em hard until theyre loose. once i put em back again i sprayed WD40 or put grease and just tighness. just my two cents here
I broke a cheap impact driver before and did something like that.
It was ghetto, but it worked! I used a screwdriver that fit the screws REALLY well and banged on the back of the screw driver with a hammer while twisting. I'm not sure how well this would work with the rotor screws - they are very difficult to get to turn if they have corroded.
HarborFreight has an impact driver for CHEAP.
Not sure how well it works, but at this price, why not try?

Sears/Craftsman has them for $20 $25 and $34. Probably have the lifetime warranty on them too.
