Default Using a raw exhaust flange as a spacer for manifold???

Has anyone used a raw exhaust flange to gain clearance for their turbo? I have a blox cast manifold and my turbo inlet is touching my slave cylinder on the transmission. As it stand right now I have no chance of putting a screen or a filter on there. If I get the flange and put a gasket a gasket between it and the head and another between it and the manifold along with some longer bolts will it work, or am I asking for problems?

It could work but you may be asking for exhaust leaks unless you can filnd somone to Tig weld the flange to your current header to make a good seal.

I run the blox with a t3/to4e 57trim 63ar and there is just barely enough room to slip a filter on. It just barely slips past the slave and the body of the filter hits before its all the way on but its past the lip on the inlet and the clamp is tight so it stays.

I don't think I would leave it raw as that invites rust, probably paint it with VHT or the like. I would also be sure to cover all the mating surfaces with the copper spray-a-gasket to help aviod leaks.

I am running a full rad with both fans so I couldn't afford to push it foreward any, maybe you can. You might just try doubling up on exhaust gaskets first.

I have a BW T3/T04E 50 trim .55 A/R and it's sitting on the slave cylinder to the point where I'd be pressed to fit a piece of paper between them. I thought about loosening the manifold putting the filter and clamp on there so the clamp hits the slave cylinder and then tightening the bolts back down on the manifold. I should probably try that first...

Because then I wouldn't be able to have AC and I would need to buy/fabricate a new downpipe...

I had the same issue - I ended up cutting the inlet off the compressor housing and welding a 90* elbow directly to the housing - that gave just enough clearance.

i cant get you the pic, but i have done it with no issues. make sure you get the correct length studs, and you are good to go.

Happened to me as well on some other projects. I used an oem head flange gasket b/w the the raw head flange and the manifold, with longer studs for them.

Taking the compressor housing off, and chopping a bit of the inlet is a possibility too.

How difficult is it to change the studs? Getting longer bolts is easy, I've never had to change out the studs before though...

found it.
i got studs from mcmastercarr.com
it was an odd piece together kit that had to work with what we had. (no hating the drag manifold)
