Default My EM1 - update

Hi guys, I've joined up here because I bought a 99 civic coupe four days ago. It's Supersonic blue, 1.6VTi, and completely standard. Hope to gain a lot of info/adivce from this forum

Here are a few pictures of my new motor:

Thanks
Adam

The front grille looks like a 4 door one.

That is the stock grille for a UKDM Civic 1.6VTi (EM1).

Nice car.

Are you sure that's Super Sonic Blue Pearl? It doesn't look purple enough. It looks more like Electron Blue Pearl.

This belongs in Appearance / Cosmetic though.

The background doesn't look like the US plus he has a Euro shaped front license plate.

I just noticed your spoiler is what is the '96-'98 coupe spoiler in the US. I was sure the UK cars were the same.

Hi guys, thanks for taking time to reply.

It's a 99 UKDM civic coupe. I'm actually not sure what colour it is, I thought it was electron blue but someone told me it was SS blue. Must check the paint code, think it is B95P or something like that.

Also sorry if I posted in the wrong section, mods can you move it please?!

I've the wheels off for refurb, thing they're gonna end up white! I'm after an exhaust and a few other bits and pieces so might have a look around here.

You chose your first Honda well. Thats the last gen with double wishbone front and rear. It looks clean as f*ck, too.

The e-brake/parking brake. All Canadian cars have the same symbol as well.

I've driven across the US and all up and down the east coast. It doesn't look like the US. It looks like Europe.

It's a RHD car that is basically the same as a USDM Si. There is no reason for anyone to bring a UKDM EM1 to the US anyway.

Right hand drive does me just fine lol!

Thanks for all the comments guys/gals. The car is actually in Northern Ireland, that's where I'm from. I'm planning a few simple mods, including exhaust, suspension, wheels, sound system, maybe a few other bits a pieces.

I'm in the process of refurbing the existing alloys, might do them white or maybe bronze/gold. I'll do a photoshop first to see how it looks. I'll keep the thread updated with progress!

Here's the general condition of the alloys, dunno whether this is normal enough for 10 year old wheels, but in pretty bad condition.

Started some sanding on a couple of the rims!

That makes sense. The UK and Ireland appear to be the same market.

i thought euro and jdm models all had the speedometer in Km... looks hecka clean tho!! and whoa those wheels look like they had brake fluid eating at them for months! make sure your calipers aint leaking fluid from the brake like connection.

That can be a bit of an issue lol. Technically Northern Ireland is part of the UK, and Ireland (also referred to as the Republic of Ireland) is actually a separate country, with slightly different car models. Just part of the messed up issue surrounding out wee country

As for the km/miles issue. Well the UK and NI still have signs etc in miles so cars must read in miles to pass their mot, whereas the republic of ireland and the rest of europe use km and speedos are in km.
