Default DC2 Sunroof Disappearing Act

It was really interesting to experience. I was being stupid and running way too fast, when suddenly my sunroof glass disappeared. I now have it replaced temporarily with some Lexain. The guy I had help me do the Lexain said that the reason the glass came out was because it was factory installed with a "soft kit" meaning that the adhesive used to secure the glass never hardened, and the vaccume caused by the speed i was traveling at sucked it out. Anyone else had this happen?

Im still hunting locally for the replacement glass.

So you were driving.. fast.. and you lost a sheet of glass? did you think to check to make sure it didnt cause any damage to other vehicles or retrace your path to make sure it didnt shatter all over the road causing a hazard for other drivers?

I have heard of this before.
You should just keep the lexan. It weighs less.

Ohhh my that is the only two cases I have heard of. That's hilarious hope everyone behind ya'll were okay ha. Wow might as well put that on the things to do list, replace adhesive around sun roof trim. Or just only go fast when it's closed. ha.

Its also just about unbreakable. I used to work at a sign shop and we used to use it for a lot of outdoor lit up signs. Kids throw rocks at acrylic and it breaks, they throw rocks at lexan and they just bounce off. If you score it with a knife, fold it over and jump on it, it will break though, makes quite a noise too, you need a piece like 4 feet long to even be able to fold it over on itself though.

So Lexan FTW! But its not that it's the glass that is causing it to shoot of at high speeds... back the "soft kit" as zombiemaster has mentioned, while the window is out why not change the adhesive and keep standard oem glass? Lexan would prob fly off too if it was setup the same way, just wouldn't shatter in the street.

no one was behind me at the time, it was about 3am and i went back the next day to check it. the glass flew off into the emergency lane before breaking so no hazards. i got lucky.

and let me know what you find Barret. The MSRP for a new glass is $500. thats a little steep for me.
