i've searched and couldn't find any posts with my problem.

i have a 95 civic, bone stock.

just today i got a code 17, but my rpms and speedometer works perfectly. and it just comes on when it wants to. i've tried to diagnose it and see what triggers the code, but all i can say is, it seems to only do it when i slow down after going 45+ mph. but still, only sometimes.

i've replaced the whole vss assembly with one my buddy had laying around and still the same issue.

i'm starting to think its ecu related? can anyone chime in please?!

i replaced the vss with another one and its still the same issue. i've diagnosed it further too. it only does it when i'm in gear (manual) and coasting to a stop but only if it drops 5mph. for example if i'm going 45mph and i coast to 40mph, then the check engine light would come on. 30-25; 60-55; etc... it always has to drop 5mph before the check engine light comes on.

could it be the plug?

Possibly a bad ECU.

 

a wire came loose on my ecu harness. it's fixed now.
