Default timing

okay i found out my issue its my timing and now i have to fix it but what do i have to line up??can some one tell me every and exact steps to it???

im confused, looking down at the crank pully there is three groove lines and a space then 2 groove lines which ones do i line up with the piece on the lower timing belt cover??? please i need help with this

i think its the red dot you have to line up. i did a z6 head swap and we did the timing at least 20 times

lol there is no red dot ats just grooves and the motor is still in car

when i did it every thing was tdc and the grove are 3 perfect straight lines accross my crank pully

seems like every time i adjust every thing, then i turn the timing light on and its back to the way it was when i started

well it should be the middle one of the 3 groves. not the one that stand alone

well its not my timing i just had a shop set it perfect and still runs like **** they said it is a burnt valve......would a burnt valve make my car back fire(some times flames) and loss of power and bogging????

well the car use to over heat and it did skip a tooth in timing so it burnt the valve while it was open wen it should have been closed i guess.......that is the only thing left to this wonderful mystery

if you know a valve is bad, then i would say that is a large part of your problems.
