Ok well i have a 91 civic std with a 99 ls swap in it converted to obd1 (rywire.) All i got done to the motor is hytech replica header to a carsound high flow then straight to a 2.5" exhaust i mean straight only one bend that is like 130 degrees, 2.5" CAI w/ k&n filter, advanced timing to where there are gaps where the bolts are. I heard that advancing the timing will need to up the octane is that true?
not sure about the timing thing, but i've used 87 in all my cars. unless its track day, then i use a higher grade. but i don't see why a higher octane would be needed.

Well i hear that advancing the timing gives it a little more higher comp. and higher comp. need higher octane, and do u think i will do better with higher octane will give me better times at the track and better hp?
Octane and compression do however go hand in hand. Higher compression = higher octane, advanced timing may need higher octane also.
If you advanced you timing with 87 in the tank and you are not pinging you are probably fine. Problems occur when you advance the timing to accomidate 93 octane and then try and run 87.
Also the higher your altitude the less octane you can get away with.
