Radio question
I have done it. You will need the JDM double din mount. You also need to hack up the metal bracket in the back that holds a single DIN radio up to accommodate the double DIN unit. I can post a pic if you need. You will also need the newer radio pigtail.

A pic would be great or if you could do a quick write up or even if you have a link to one, you would be the coolest! and I imagine the double din is tough to come by?
I believe you stated CRV, but the radio I used was from an accord. I am guessing they are the same, but make sure. I got it from Ebay for a $150 I think. This was like three years ago, so they have surely come down since then.
Just to get you started, you will need Metra part number 71-1721 to plug into the back of the new six disc radio. You will need Metra part number 71-1720 to plug into the CRX harness, if yours is still intact. Connect the corresponding wires together and you are ready to go. The most difficult part was making room in the back for the new radio by demolishing the old "bracket". You just need to bend, pry, and dremel it until the radio can slide all the way in.
I will try and post pics for you soon.
good luck.
