I have a 2006 EX coupe, purchased November 2005. I've noticed that my front left side makes a "thunk" noise occasionally when I hit a bump. I haven't messed with the suspension or anything... stock suspension on SI rims with low profile tires. Its not a constant, over every bump, but still worrisome. Happens two or three times a day. Anyone have an idea what it might be? Today I took it through a soft-cloth car wash, and going down the ramp to the wash, it made a slamming noise at the bottom of the ramp.

 

it's an issue with the bump stop, if you still have the warranty they'll probably end up replacing the strut.

 

Thank you for the input. The car is no longer under warranty. Shouldn't be an expensive fix, I hope?

 

did it start out as a 'pop' and progress to a 'clunk'? that's what happened to mine, i've read up on this on 8thcivic about this and it's usually an issue with the bump stops. if the bump stops are replaced in time i think the shocks can be saved, otherwise the shocks will also need to be replaced. i don't have warranty either; i'm solving my problem by getting full coilovers
