Default Cruising speed/rpm

What speed and rpm does everyone usually cruise at? How long have you driven at a higher rpm (ie 4500rpm).
How bad for the engine is this for long trips?

I watched madspeed video and it looks like they did it for quite sometime. Im worried about long driving and its wear on the engine...

Thanks.

There are no worries with keeping it at revs that would be high for other cars.

On the ITR, the revs are around 4000 RPM at 75 mph. 4500 RPM would correspond with 84 mph. You can drive all day at that speed, no problems. You may want to check your oil level every once in a while, that's all - but that's standard advice for any VTEC engine.

On the track, I drive all day with the revs much higher in the revband than that!

Yup, mine seems about that. I don't see a issue with it being at those RPMs for any amount of time.

I had a fully built NA LS motor with standard ACL bearings in it, down the I-State my trans would tach it at 3200 @ 60mph and I wanna say about 4400-45000 at around 75.
Tore it apart after my brother wrecked the car, bearings were showing NO issues. Had about 12,000 miles on it. Rev'd it to about 8500rpms too.

swap in the LS 5th if you want a lazy lower rpm 5th gear. you will gain a bit of MPG and keep the engine revving lower. the trade off is 5th gear will become lazy which it is not stock.
