rods question ????
hi guys,
Im in the process of rebuilding my turbo b16 but i was wondering about useing itr rods into the b16, is it possible, i searched but i didnt find anthing related to that topic.
i found that the gsr and the itr rods have the same lenght (am I right ???)
but i guess that if i use the itr rods on the b16 the piston will go out from the block a bit because of the deck hight of the b16 block is shorter than the b18.
so i want to make sure if i use the itr rods will the pistons go out or not ?????
and if i use the itr rods and put thicker head gasget will it be ok or not ????
thanx in advance

GSR rods and ITR rods are the same thing, P72 part number. Some people say they've been shot peened, but I've never seen anything in the Honda literature that backs that claim up. FYI, ITR bottom ends are GSR bottom ends with a different piston, and nothing else.
You're not going to fit a GSR rod into a B16, too long for an engine with such a short deck height. Regardless, I doubt the GSR rod is any stronger than what you have.
If you want to do something that will make a real world difference, stick an LS or GSR bottom end under your B16 head. Outside of a CRX or gutted hatch turbo B16s are kinda unrewarding to drive. There really is a BIG difference in powerband and useable torque.

hi
thanx for the help
so are you saying that one option is to go ls vtec or to run a gsr block and stick to it a b16 head???
but i was wondering if i used the gsr rods into the b16 block and run thicker head gasget will it be ok or not????
keeping in mind that the car will not be used as a daily driver.

hi
what do you meen they will not fit ????
because i saw one guy run eagle b18 stroker kit into b16 block but the piston come out of the head about 2mm which is too much but he was running a 1.6mm head gasget and his engine was running ?????
what i want to know is (will the itr rods fit into the b16 crank ????)
as i said before the piston may come out of the block a bit but i guess a thicker head gasget will solve the problem ??????
