I am looking to buy a 99 integra, it has 66k miles on it. But the only thing that i think is weird about it is the speedometer odometer does not work, which makes me think the car has more miles on it than it clocked. But anyways if the title has the low mileage on it i will probably buy it. I wanted to know what you guys would think the problem would be with it. I think it would be the vss. thanks for the help.

 

The tach should still work if the VSS is not functioning properly. Do all the lights come on when you turn the ignition to ON?

 

I am looking to purchase the car and i have not gone to look at it so i was wanting to get the different scenarios for it before i went and looked at it so i could see what i was getting into. Would their be a way to find out what it is right away that i can look at before i bought it, i have an extra cluster i was going to bring and plug that in see if it fixes the problem. Any other ideas? thanks.

 

Carfax it, see if it tells you the last mileage that was recorded, and when it was... That will at least help you figure out how long it's been at 60k, i mean, if carfax show 55k miles 5 years ago, than somethings up, it's probably a bit more.

 

maybe the vss plug is unplug on the tranny

 

Does the odometer work and the tach doesn't? That should be your first step
