Default In-dash navigation in a pre-2001 civic?

I searched, no conclusive information. And Im not interested in the JDM CTR navi, I need a working navigation, something like the Pioneer AVIC http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-AVIC-F...8207895&sr=8-1

Itso nly 440 bux, it has a CD player/mp3/blue-tooth/navigation.

Heres the question, how can it be mounted in a 98 CX? Has anyone done this?

You didn't give much info on it, so I put in the system that it was a 99 coupe. Here is the harness and the reciever kit. Crutchfield can be your best friend.

Lol and in otherwords yes it can fit. If you don't get it from that link just make sure you find a "double din in dash reciever kit" for your make and model.

How would a double DIN fit in the EK dash? Its a single-DIN slot.

That is something that shouldd have been specified. Pre 2001 is a broad spectrum. But in that case dudes right unless you want to custom fab some **** just get the single din flip up.

Clarion makes some good ones. But seeings how you were wanting the AVIC then I would check out pioneers line. Crutchfield has them some and think they may be on sale now.

Hmm....Im starting to have second thoughts about the single DIN units.
Moving parts, the screen would block the AC vents, $$$$....
Might be worth it to get the 99 climate control and then pick up one of these

Thats always an issue. But is it really worth it to spend the money to buy and swap the climate controls (IF it would even fit, and work properly) plus the Navi. Just buy the flip up dude. They have warranties if any of the moving parts broke and is $$$$ cheaper then the double din Navi.

Are you dead set on pioneer or is that just one you have seen? I have a AVIC D2 and have had a world of problems with it, and their customer service cant be described by anything other than horseshit. PM me if you want details so I dont clog up your thread with off topic rubbish, but I would really recommend looking at some other brands

Keep in mind that if you get a pioneer flip out, there is only a one year warranty from the factory, so when (not if) the motor goes out, youre stuck with a $200 fee to replace a $30 part.

Yeah, if you have a 96-98 civic they are manual control, and on the 99-00 civics they are electronicly controlled. There is a write up for this in the 92-00 civic part. And i know you have to also change out the blower box.

I would just stick with the single din. just close the vents.
