Default H23 vtec head swap questions

So I've been researching this lately...got a great deal on an H22 head so decided to add it into my H23 turbo build...I am just doing a freshing up rebuild on the H23 for the time being new rings and bearings...from what I had read other then the crank the H23 and H22 share the same rotating assembly, however when looking at bearing part numbers for 95 Si prelude and a 95 vtec prelude the main bearing numbers are the same but the rod bearings are different? Could this mean the H22 may have gotten better bearings to handles the higher revs? IF this is true I guess using the H22 bearings may give the motor a little more reliability? This isn't a DD its a weekend fun/track car...

Im also not looking to rev to the moon with this, I know the head can take more then the bottom end as for revs because of the r/s, I grabbed the H22 head with the hopes it will flow better then the stock H23 head and spool the big H351VE a little quicker In the future I may grab another bottom end to be resleeved and forged internals...but for the time being I am just gonna throw some new parts in it to have a fresh start, H22 oil pump, water pump, balance shafts removed, rings bearings and gaskets/seals, arp head studs...

I was also curious what would be a new safe redline to rev to...I was thinking 7K, gives me a little more then the stock H23 but should keep me safe am I correct?

Thanks for any helpful info...Matt

Default Re: H23 vtec head swap questions

Anyone?

I'm looking at ACL bearings for the bottom end, and they list the same part number for both the H23 and H22 so i guess if I go with them it wouldn't make a difference...
