Default Cleaning Side And Bumper Moldings

I have been cleaning my DA's moldings with armor-all. It gives it a shine for about a few days then wears off to ugly dullness. I was told that armor-all my also crack the plastic. Is this true? what are you ways of cleaning and making your molding shine for a longer period of time. How is it as far as painting go? Thanks
