Auto Trans Problem
Hello everyone,
My 99 ex civic auto has had some trans problems. It started out by not wanting to shift from 2 to 3, also taking foverer to accelerate in 1st gear. Now when i try to drive the car, gas padel will be pressed all the way down and the car will barely move, if it does end up driving, it will most likely stall at the next stop. Anyone experiece a problem similiar to this, i have sourced replacement auto trans, but also wondering if it could be the torque converter.
thanks

my 96 civic Ex with an auto trans sometimes doesnt shift from 3rd to 4th.
it also feels like it takes a while for it to move to get to first.
kinda feels as if its manual and im holding the clutch in a little.
my problem is the Linear solenoid
#32 on this sketch

if yours is the same thing, you will need to replace that as well as get a tranny flush.
hope this helps

First thing to do with auto tranny's are check fluid. (number one cause of auto tranny failure)
If that checks out ok, then yeah check your solenoids/solenoid pack and make sure they are in spec and working correctly.
You can do a torque converter test to rule that out as well, it could very well be the converter goin out on you.
You'll need to find out the spec for your car but the way you check the converter is, put the car in drive, set the e-brake and hold the brake pedal hard. Then, apply the gas pedal and bring your RPM up until your gas pedal is all the way to the floor. This should be done for ony a few seconds to avoid damaging the converter, hold it just long enough to watch your tach, and see where the RPM stops, that's your stall speed. then check that to your car's spec if it's under or over the specified RPM you know you have a problem!

ok heres an update, checked the resistances in the trans solenoids
the results in ohms....
lock-up solenoid factory spec 12-25, mine 39
shift control solenoid factory spec 12-25, mine 39
linear solenoid factory spec - 5, mine 61
seems like this might be the problem, but i have doubts about why all 3 solenoids would be so far out of spec, im using a fluke multimeter, so it should be accurate.also checked the torque converter, seems in spec. As of right now the car will turn on and idle, but as you give it gas it will first studder and almost die, the only way it will rev out if the gas is pressed down slowly. So im kinda of puzzed, if its the trans or another problem on its own.

It just seems unlikely that all the solenoids are bad, though not impossible I guess. Are you sure you have the correct factory specs?
Regarding the engine hesitation, you might want to check the ignition timing with a timing gun and inspect the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor.
