1991 hatch build
i have a 91 hatch with a jdm b16a2 out of a 99 civic si. i'm planning on doing some body/interior work in the coming months and eventually a rebuild. just looking for some constructive criticism and/or any links to where to get the stuff i'm planning on installing.
to do list:
two tone paint: blue top and black bottom
new wheels: black 6 spoke with chrome lip
low profile tires
blue under-dash neons
perhaps under-carriage neons
pull back seat and do...something cool back there lol
possibly replace si seats with race seats
fog lights in grille (blue...not YELLOW!)
aftermarket tail lights (no euro lights!)
shave door handles and radio antenna
no...i'm not doing a body kit. they're soooo overdone, and i really like the lines of the car the way it is. any ideas, comments, or refferals to parts sites are wanted. please, no haters. i have enough of those because i love and own a honda.

Save all that dough, and get your block sleeved, drop some forged slugs and rods in that sucker, and buy yourself an EMS, injectors, and then boost that sucker! Don't forget to get tuned.
man do what you want to ur car that you think looks good it ur's i get alot of crap over my one 95 coupe bc i did a full kit fender flare and a 06 si headlight conversion all custom but i love it and i like to show it at shows but on the other hand i also a 94 with a gsr swap that is almost stock looking and i love it to doesnt matter what you do to a honda bc it a honda it bad a** anyway

yeah, i was definitely planning on doing the motor a complete build. i want to see how much i can squeeze out of it before i boost it. then the boost will be a nice finishing touch. i'm mainly geared towards the 1/8th mile track circuit right now because that's all we have around here. i want to be able to stomp 400+ horsepower "track only" v8s with a road legal honda.
if your concerned about things being "Sooooooo overdone" here's a couple tips:
black primer (i know your gonna paint it later) - soooooo overdone
neon lights - soooooo overdone
stating on your vehicle that honda is better than vw - sooooo overdone
look, i dont want to be the hater on here, but i feel that you have a very good start to what could be a very good build and i want to help save you from making mistakes your going to hate later. good luck with your build, and again, sorry for sounding like a hater. I'm really not. you have a lot of potential in your ride. keep it classy.

I'd suggest leaving the interior, it wont save as much weight as you might actually believe. And you don't have annoying cracks and clinks when you hit a bump. And you can put people back there. And you can have stuff in your trunk, and conceiled, because someone will want to jack it, because it's primered black. I say keep it.
Stoked to hear yor doing a B16 NA build! no one really likes b16's now, but I think I'll stick with mine. I had my interior stripped, and it sucks! Its really really loud especially on long hauls! Persnally I don't like 2tone though. I would stick with a nice subdued single tone....Gl with it!

makes me wish i still had a b16... its a fun engine. If you want the exterior to look different from every other EF out there, as you said, no body kit, but I would encourage looking into EDM/JDM bumpers and headlights, they look slick and are not the run of the mill looks to a car that you might end up showing someday. if you are planning on going turbo later, you should mostly focus on the bottom end of the engine for building (sleeving, lower compression pistons) but that will result in a loss of NA horsepower... so you might think about leaving it NA and upping the compression, etc.
Not like you can cut the side open to do.
It's less weight to take it all off, safety be damned.
this actually works. I've done it.
Here is the write up:
You have to start at the top of a really big hill with a ramp at the bottom.
What you have to do is hook up a boost gauge to your Type-R VAFC. Then you spray some water on your intake filter.
As the water vapor travels through your charge piping, it freezes when it gets through your air to water cooler. (the ice will get colder if you run an air to air FMIC). Once it is frozen, it enters the intake manifold where your direct port nitrous injection turns the frozen ice into liquid nitrogen.
Once you have converted your water to liquid nitrogen via your super efficient intake air cooling setup. it will enter your combustion chamber and turn your engine into a giant block of ice.
Now that your engine is frozen, all you have to do is roll the rest of the way down the hill and make sure you jump out of the car before it gets to the ramp because your body heat will make the frozen motor a little too warm to cool the sun down.
Be sure to have your laser thermal temp sensor and gauge handy so you can aim it at the sun to detect the major drop in temperature it is about to receive.
*somebody should sticky this*
id keep the interior too man, i took mine out when i first got my hatch as a toy, then i had to make it my DD and ive been looking for over a year now for just a back seat that isnt rediclously priced. and definitly do what you want to do to it, you are going to be the one driving it and around it everyday.
