Help replacing wheel bearing
I think my wheel bearing is going out on my rear passenger side. I need to get the hub off to get to it though. Does anybody know how to get the philips screws off the hub? I heard I may have to heat them or something but I am not for certain. Is this something I can do, or is it a job for a mechanic?
do you mean getting the rotor off the hub...the two screws that look like phillips, those are a funkin pain in the ***, but what i did was stick a robertson head#2 bit into it and hammer it in, then put the drill in reverse and out they came...so easy!! I took a while to figure out none of my screwdrivers would do anything but strip the crap out of the screw though! hope that helps, if that's what your even talkin about!

robertson head is the square screwdriver bit...seems to work the best when u are hammering it in the screw...just make sure u hammer it in really good so the bit doesn't fly out when you have the drill in reverse trying to take it off!
use a bit that will work in a drill, the guys at your local hardware shop will know what your talking about!

and yes u should soak it in liquid wrench or wd-40 too!...the screws will be useless after u get them out so your gonna have to buy a new set...i didn't use the exact same ones, i actually used some that use a flat head screw driver...but it worked, just make sure the replacements are the same size..
Once you get one out, then go to your hardware or auto store(not sure if they'll have them here) and match the screws up!

what about the front my friend is having problems with the front passenger on a 95 lude and I was hoping that i wouldn't have to have it pressed. Is the bearing really three pieces inner race bearing's and outter race? where would I have it pressed?
Well, I don't know about the 3 pieces. I took the hub/knuckle off and had a buddy with a shop press out the bearing to replace my studs. He said there were no problems and the bearing should not be damaged.
Any machine shop, or just a general mechanic should have a press capable of pressing out the bearing.

You need to use an impact screwdriver to get those two screws out. You can reuse them, unless you are not careful and manage to strip them out.
