Hey. I'm hoping to get some help. The other day I was driving my 91 that just had a tranny swap, it was running great for 2-3 weeks, then on the freeway it suddenly loses almost all power, I pull over, there's no smoke, noises etc. Get back on the road, it drives just fine in 1st, then when I shift into 2nd, 3rd, etc. nothing happens(no grinding, shifts fine). The rpms don't go up and the car won't go over 30 mph. Anyone have any ideas? My boyfriend and I are going to try and work on it tonight, but don't really have any idea where to start. Thanks for any help!

 

Timing belt still intact?

Did the check engine light come on? Any oil or coolant leaks?

 

I'm not sure if he's checked the timing belt yet (the car is down in phoenix, an hour from us). No lights came on, there is a slight oil leak, kinda always had one though. No coolant leaks. The car sounds great when it's revved up and drives just fine in first, and nothing else.

 

Can you shift into neutral? Reverse? Start in second gear?

 

Yeah, it goes into neutral and reverse, haven't tried starting it in second. Thanks for the tip.
