Default Samco Induction Intake arm?

Does anyone have any experience with this Intake Arm on there Type R with a K&N Filter or other filter? What kind of gains can I expect with this silicone piping? Does it quiet the engine down or make it louder? how does it compare to other short ram intakes? Thanks

The advantage of the Samco arm is that it is not susceptable to heat soak the way the stock arm or other metal intakes are. Therefore, it is going to reduce the temperature of the air entering your intake manifold. If anything it might absorb some noise, but nothing significant. There will be no substantial gains, it just aids the engine efficiency process that is a common goal of other bolt on parts. That is all.

Thats great about the reduction of heat, Thanks Jon

I had on on my my car with a 3" velocity stack. I dynoed it with my butt and it made decent gains (lol), but really the gain is minimal. It does add some balla status though.

The Samco was made specifically for ITR owners who use a Mugen intake. "Go-Fight-Kill" uses one with a velocity stack. He made a thread with a dyno chart not too long ago.

Hmm I still have mine in it's wrapping, I been telling myself I should install it... That's been happening for 6 months.

I doubt it does anything to aid in performance, just looks nice.

has anyone noticed that the intake arm rubs on the AC line? for me it has rubbed so much that its actually worn down the metal ac line a litte. I have a bracket holding the filter up...but apparently its not holding it up high enough.
just wondering if any of you guys have had this problem

it will fit but i had to had to add a piece to hold it to so it would not rub. if i can find a pic ill post it.

im running it with a bpi 3" velocity stack and my butt dyno approves

yea if you can that would be great. that way maybe i can just make a bracket myself to hold the intake arm a little higher

Do you find that the bpi velocity stack is too small for the samco tube? Think you could fit the blox 3.5" stack??

i use the black Samco arm with my K&N filter in the Comptech Icebox. Fitment is nice. As Jon mentioned, heat soak will be reduced slightly but don't expect too much in terms of hp gains.

I was responsible for this project when I worked at King. Samco was already doing some applications for German cars (VW, BMW) so we made the investment to have units made for S2000 and ITR. The thought for doing this was as follows:

1. Mugen makes very nice intake systems for S2000 and ITR. Both use the stock intake arm. We felt it would enhance the bling factor of the intake to provide a high quality intake tube to compliment the high quality intake.

2. For those that are into color matching, these pieces would add an additional Samco piece to match the water hose kits.

3. We felt there may be a performance benefit from lower intake temps and a smoother internal surface, but to be honest we never tested or proved this with data.

4. The Samco intake tubes were designed as a direct replacement for the factory unit. We actually sent Samco stock Honda pieces for them to develop the Silicon pieces. For you rocket scientists out there, that means that what ever contraption you want to stick on the end of your intake tube, if it fits the stock ITR intake tube, it will fit on the Samco.

yeah. the intake arm was too small. i had to shove it in there. it fits in very snuggly.

with a 3.5" blox one, i think you will not be able to fit it. i can barely fit my 3"
