search didnt help Insight hybrid
Anyone ever build one? maybe a b16 in a insight? I was looking under the hood and noticed that in has plenty of room so does anyone know if a b series will fit?
The insight is designed to save gas, you're never gonna be able to pull out all the batteries and swap in an engine
If you want a small light car to do a swap in get a CRX

The Insight is an aluminum frame and should be the lightest chassis available from Honda. What makes it heavier (still only 1900lbs if i remember right) is the electric motor parts), but there are NO batteries!
then why does honda keep talking things like this:
VTEC™-E gasoline engine, the Insight drives just like any other automobile. It has a 10.6-gallon gas tank, and no external power supply is needed for recharging. Batteries are recharged by regenerative braking. Specifically, energy from forward momentum is captured during braking. This energy is then used to recharge the batteries.

the charts at http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/tech/...ightFINAL2.pdf also show a large battery pack...

http://www.edmunds.com/new/2002/hond.../photo_11.html have you had a chance to look under the hood of one? it certianly seems possible. I would think you would have to relocate the battery(the one that starts the mech motor) to the hatch. there is also a large crossbeam/member that runs right next to the firewall. I would assume it is used for some kind of chassis stiffener.
