Default HELP! clutch slave cylinder

My clutch over the past few months has gone soft and fell to the floor a few times. I would top it off and pump it up and it would be fine for about a month or so. Well in the last few days pumping it up didn't help and neither did bleeding it. So I was told it was most likley the slave cylinder. I bought a new one and installed it. Filled the fluid back up. But now there is NO pressure in the system. I can pump away all I want and it never gets any pressure built up. I've tried bleeding it and fluid passes all the way through the system, but still with a slight touch the pedal falls to the floor and stays. What do I do? I need help asap. Thank you in advance.

should replace master cylinder also to avoid any other issues. bleeding the system will take a long while.

Thank you guys I appreciate the help! I bled the system and it took forever. The clutch still isn't right though. I've got pressure but there is still some "slack" in the top of the pedal. Tomorrow I'm gonna do the master cylinder.....then starts the bleeding again. But the car is drivable enough to get me to work, and to the parts store on the way home. Thanks again guys.

you can also change your in the car were the clutch engages on the foot peadel. Just make sure you have it completly blead then try this.

its just a nut on a rod that adjusts. pretty easy. some people like the clutch right there at the top to dis engage and some like it half way...thats how you change it.

This is what gets me.. You replaced it as it was the "likely" culprit?

The fluid had to be going some where.. Did you check for leaks? Did you see puddles of fluid under the car? Is your Carpet wet under the MC?

You're doing a lot of work when it could be the Damper that's gone bad or the Hardline has split..

The slave cylinder was leaking and it was cheap anyways. But I'm replacing the master cylinder in a little while. I just got off work and gotta get up the motivation. The firewall has fluid down it from the master. In a few hours hopefully the problem will be take care of. Even if those aren't the culprits....they were bad anyways, so I'd rather take care of all problems.

Oh, ok! If they were leaking, they should be changed.. You just didn't say they were anywhere.

The Engine Bay side of the Firewall or the Interior Side, has fluid?
That's bad if both were leaking..

The interior side. The engine bay side was bone dry. Sorry forgot to post that. I'm working on it right now. Man that one nut (upper left corner on the interior mount of master cylinder) is all thats making this job a pain in the ***!

Yea, I think I had the same tough time getting to one bolt..

Ah, yes, interior = BAD Master.

Hopefully after all this you'll be good.. I would have gone ahead and replaced the entire line since you've gone this far..

I replaced everything when mine started to leak.. So much easier doing it all at once..

Well I did the replacement, but ran into a problem. I got the new master mounted but when I went to screw in the flare nut for the hydraulic line the threads would not start! I can spin it all I want and try to tweak it into place but not luck, the threads just won't catch at all. I've taken everything back off to inspect it, but incase the threads on the flar nut are stripped or damaged in any way, does anybody know what size the flar nut is fir replacement if I have to?

as long as u got the right master cyl, im gonna say patience is a virtue i hate working on cars because i run into stupid problems like that frustrate the hell out of me and double the amount of time it should take for a simple job.

Thanks for all the help. The flare nut was fine but the threads in the new master I bought were junk. I finally got the new one in (second new one) with good threads and had it re-installed in about 10 minutes. I got it bled and everything seems to be working perfectly now! Thanks again guys.
