Interesting pictures...car in frontal accident with CF hood
I was surfing the local section of ClubSi to see what's going on in the area and found these pictures of a civic after they rear-ended a Ford Exploder...
I know that there has been a lot of discussion about CF hoods on vehicles and frontal impacts, saw the pictures and thought that I'd hijack them for everyone to see.

I would like to see a picture of the widshield to see if there were scuff marks, from where the hood 'climbed' up the windshield...
Now, if the windshield should break before the CF hood detaches itself... what happens...
Guitoine? (sp)

Yoshi...the gentleman said that he had chips on his windshield, but that they were from rocks...
One of the biggest reasons stopping me from getting a cf hood is the fear of decapitation. Does anybody have any other photos of cf hood involved in front end collisions?
It would be interesting to see what effects hood pins would have had in this situation.

dang carbon fiber is mad strong, i have seen videos of people running over carbon fiber with cars and it doesnt even get damaged
Ya, I had the same thing happen to me when a woman ran a stop sign and nailed me head on. The skeleton flexes and the hood doesnt shatter as I have heard before. It just detaches from the skeleton.
BTW, that pic brings back some painful memories..mods plz erase it lol

Why does it seem like everyone has this perception about carbon fiber hoods? I see NO reason why they would be more dangerous than the stock ones during a front end collision.

I remember someone posting a pic of his accident. The pic showed the hood bend and crumple like a stock hood. I guess it depends on the brand and construction.

Alex - who is now afraid of loosing his head
I'm sure if that it flew off, it would slide UP the windshield and over the car endangering someone else's life. But the driver of the car will be safe from decapitation.

silly boys... ever see what an 8000rpm launch and close to 1000whp with big slicks can do to a CF drive shaft? Makes a nappy wig... I'd say that 99% of CF products fail more safely than OE(concerning impact)... unless of course, your on foot close to the point of a high speed impact... then, might suck to be you...
CF Hoods are VERY strong. I've seen one come in that tire marks on it where someone ran over it w/ a FORKLIFT! He was going to send it back, but after opening it up and looking at it, there was NO damage to the hood. Not even a scratch.
That's what Golfball Size hail will do to your hood

yet my insurance company claims it's from vibrations and don't want to cover it.
*edit* stupid case sensitive.
