Shaved door handles
I'm thinking of doing this to my rex, but I'm not that good with wiring and am kind of intimidated by thw wiring for the remote. For peeps who have done this. How difficult is it? Any pointers?
its not that difficult...my 89 crx has shaved door handles....i hate it, i didnt do the shaving or the door poppers but i did help my friend hook his up on his 84 silverado.
shaved door handles is a frekkin nightmare, no matter what brand u use, it always ****s up. then ur stuck outside your car wishing u would have installed an emergency cable to get ur door open.

lol ya my 2nd DA had them on it and they were so crappy i stood outside my car for a good 10 minutes one day clicking the button i just started leaving my sunroof open just enough that my skinny *** could fit through it and dukes of hazzard my *** in and out. and also i dont know about where your at but here woodburn dragstrip wont allow you to run with them just a thought also.
I have the hardware for shaved door handles, will be getting them done soon. But i'm going to be hooking it up to the Matrix alarm that I have, so I don't expect any complications. Also, what solenoids are you guys using? You need to get a strong, reliable one like Autoloc. Well, I don't have any personal experience with them, but they've been around for a while, and I read good stuff about them,
all i know was that they were on the car when i bought it i never really looked into what brand or anything they were but i had them looked at and the guy told me that i was just running to small gauge of wire so that may have been the problem. but to me personally a clicker that makes your doors open for you which takes the same amount of energy to pop the handle isnt worth it to me if i cant run my car at the track.

shaved door handles are not that hard to install, but if not installed properly they can be a nightmare. I always suggest adding an emergency hidden hardwired button just incase your remote dies out. But like I said in a previous post make sure to use autoloc or something of quality with a high pull rating.
^You're funny, of course it's easy for you! Ha ha, just kiddin dude.
I don't think the wiring is that hard. The only recommendation that I would give you is to make sure that you run the ground all the way back to the battery. Autoloc keeps pushing this as a serious issue, so, I'm going to do that. I had another guy tell me that it wouldn't be necessary, but I would rather go the extra amount and not run into any problems then otherwise.

Def a good idea If these dont have a good ground they will not work. They draw quite a bit of power when they intitially pull in. Ive never metered it though. Your ground is just as important as the +12v make sure to remember that. I always see ppls installs and they have the ground ghetto rigged with a huge +12v power wire. Makes me laugh.
prices vary. I would look for a price on an autoloc setup so you have that Price$$$ then look for a body shop with experience doing it. Or do it yourself. But have access to a mig welder.
