Default 1995 Accord wagon mushy shift **** button

I'm new here, so thank you in advance for any help.
I have searched through these forums and through Google and have not found help on my issue.

I just purchased a 1995 Accord Wagon EX with the 2.2l and automatic.
It has just under 112k

The shift **** feels like mush when pushing in the button. It takes a second to actually get the button in far enough to move the shifter to D.

Has anyone ever seen this problem, or know how to take apart the **** so I can investigate?

Thanks again,
Vince

It's probably just gummed up.

Any type of solvent cleaner should get it good, if you do a search on how to install an aftermarket one you should see how to disassemble it.

The gist of it was to remove the screw in the base of it, then you can slide it up if I recall? But there's a small piece that the button pushes against that can be lost/dropped and you have to make sure you don't lose it.

Thank you!

Found a guide, took it apart (cake) and cleaned the plastic parts.
Now it works like new.

One more thing checked off the list!
