Alright well I currently have a 95 Honda Prelude that I had sprayed Championship white last summer. Well the guy who did it as a favor was a hack and it looks like ****. So I want to redo it because I am getting a Mugen bumper and sides and a value sport rear lip aswell as fixing some rust damage. But I want to change up the champ white to something that i've never seen, but maybe someone here has.

Id like to lay down 2 coats championship white base coat. Then a gold pearl intercoat and top it with a 3 or 4 coats of clear. The amount of coats of intercoat would be determined by how much pearl I really want. Ill decide that after i do a test panel.

So i guess I have two questions. I know HOK makes an intercoat for pearls to mix in but does ppg? Since that is what i can get locally. If so what do they call it?

Has anyone ever seen a championship white car with pearl and do they have pics?

Old dudes that paint are crotchety bastards, these are the same guys that hated urethane basecoat when it came out. Anyways, I think you can paint the whole car with a pint of the gold pearl. Probably less.

Yeah the guys at the store I go to are a bunch of old heads and I think they mostly do business with body shops in the area. So when at 20 year old kid goes in there asking all kinds of questions I think they get baffled.

Would it be okay if I just painted my new bumper,sides, rear and wing the champ white. Then fixed my rust and resprayed that 1/4 and just wet sanded the rest of the car and layed the pearl on top?

My paint job isn't really a hack job but he didn't lay much clear and left mad orange peel but I'm afraid to wetsand and buff it because I don't think there is enough clear to be knocked down.

Suthrnbred, that's a sweet idea with the purple. I decided on gold because of the offwhite champ white is I thought gold would go better. And because I have bronze te37s.

 

I painted my EF Champ White with Sunbeam pearl. The sunbeam pearl I guess is best described like the colors of a pretty stainless tig weld, (some blue, red, gold, bronze) it looked awesome! I miss that car. :-(

 

Ill have to look into the sunbeam pearl. Any note to who made it? I've been looking aþ the stuff on paintwithpearl.com

 

thanks...post pix up of yoyr car when u fininsh mine is still in the process of small bodywork imperfections...but the project should be done by summer! hopefully and thats on my schedule(i am doing it all myself)

 

i def will. i prob wont do paint till this summer though. just bought wheels and a bunch of other stuff.

who made that sunbeam pearl you had? i cant find it.
