Curious what coolant you guys are running in your car. I upgraded radiators and will need to refill the system.

Is it the regular green stuff?

Prestone 50/50 for example?

 

I'm **** and only use OEM....it's only a few bucks more. The new Honda fluid is type 2 and its blue. Premixed already and from what I've read you can mix it with the old green stuff, but I'd jsut do a full flush.

I use whatever is the cheapest, typically "store brand" then cut it 50/50 myself. You get twice a much coolant for the same price as buying the premix ****. Then add a bottle of water wetter to it. That's my formula....haha

 

I don't have distilled water on hand.

How do I get whats in the block out?

Also, how many gallons/quarts does it take?

 

Yeah, it's really rare. They don't sell it at every grocery store in the whole world. It's expensive as well. This is an excellent excuse.

There is a drain plug for the block. It's underneath the car. It's a 19mm. Look by the header for a drain plug looking thing on the block. You'll probably want a replacement gasket...and it calls for resealing it with non hardening sealant. It's in the owner's manual. With pictures...

Buy enough coolant to make around 2 gallons. It's 1 gallon and some change, IIRC. It's in the owner's manual also.

BTW, I just use the OEM stuff. I get it for free or cheap...and my friend who is a tech at Honda tells me that it's better for the water pumps. But it could all be mumbo jumbo.

 

I just use Prestone in all my cars. I usually run 35% fluid 65% distilled water from the grocery store. It's like 25cent a gallon. lol

 

Yea, I had some distlilled for the longest time, finally ran out. I only use a small amount of actual "anti-freeze" as compared to straight water.
