My new Neon thread
This is the HT thread for the car that I've named 13. My last car had rusted wheel wells, and I'd rather not do body work if I don't have to.
This build will consist largely of the old parts from my old car, with some upgrades along the way as well as a built head. Not too many pics at the moment, but more to come.
Bringing it home:
Hole in the trunk that will need to be cut out and replaced:
Suspension off of the old car with prothane bushings and extended lug nuts.
The car came with TYC clear headlights in the trunk, so the stockers came out and the TYC headlights and Euro turns went in. No pics of the new lights installed yet....
The car up on stands:
Keep in mind that this will be a daily driver/weekend track *****, not a drag or show car. I am however hoping for 170 hp with stock bottom end, decked head, Crane 16's and an S-AFC Neo. We'll see.

Crappy pic of the lights installed:

2gen seats:

I still need to put a recliner mechanism from a coupe on the passenger's side to allow access to the back seat when needed, but these seats should be more comfortable than the crappy, worn 1gen seats.

Pre-bent brake lines are in at the dealership. I'm getting my father to pick them up with his truck. Pre bent brake lines from the master cylinder to the rear flex hoses for $22 including tax=awesome.
I <3 modifying super cheap cars
This won't be a normal Wings West body kit, home made cold air intake and fart can Neon build. It'll be more of a track *****, slam-dangled, clean looking Neon build. I took the interior out today and hosed it off and I'm going to be switching the recliners on the seats with ones from a coupe so that the seats fold forward for access to the rear seat. I have some more pics, but I've got to get up in 6 hours, so I'll upload them later.

Not too bad. Pretty clean 1st gen, there. Now you just need to ditch the 2.0, and do a SRT-4 swap in that bad boy! Makes for a great sleeper!
Glen Danzig wrote a song called 13 for Johnny Cash and I liked the song at the time.

SRT shifter went in today, but either tomorrow tomorrow or Wed. I'll be taking it back out and modifying it. The brake lines are in, so now I'm just hoping for some time to drop the gas tank and get the old ones off.
An SRT swap just isn't my style. I'm completely retarded when it comes to wiring, and I'd rather keep the 2 litre so that I'm not bumped to a MOD class running against Vettes, Kit cars, and fully prepped, high dollar machines.
Spherical bearings for the front control arms are next on the list. I should be able to have them in the next few weeks.

Modified SRT shifter:
Just the stock PT style **** for now, but I'll be looking for a die to tap it with to use a quality aftermarket ****.
Better pic of the headlights:

Taking out the sound deadening :
Just pulled the carpet up

At least 5lbs here:

Just the ashphalt stuff left. Blowtorch time soon.

Interior is 99% back together.
Stock exhaust and manifold are off and I'll be ordering stainless steel flex hoses on payday (next friday) to get the braking system done.

I sold them for a set of wheels I got on sale at Pep Boys and spent the rest on Cheeseburgers and NOS energy drinks.
haha just playin of course. Once I'm done the flex hoses and brake lines I'm probably going to be using SRT front calipers with some modified PT knuckles. I may go with disks in the rear, or just keep the drums to save weight. The rear brakes only do about 20% of the braking or so, plus my braking problems weren't getting them to grab, it was fade, and the thicker/bigger calipers/rotors should fix that.
After all that, the inner tie rod on one side is bent, so I'm just going to replace the steering rack with one I have lying around. I also have to swap to my rear hubs with the ARP extended lugs already installed.
In other words, no point in putting any wheels on it yet!

Exhaust manifold off:
Some empty space, but still too much stuff in this area:
Battery held securely in the bumper area via a hacked up stock battery tray:
Wiring for the battery relocation:
Just need some Stinger terminals now.
