Default Which camber kit?

I have a 97 Accord and am going to lower it 2 inches. I currently have the +1.5-+3 degree Ingalls balljoint camber kit. Will this kit be okay, or will it not go low enough and I should get the -1.5-+1.5 kit?

Currently the kit I have is for sale so please let me know asap as to whether or not I should take down the F/S ads.

Why are you thinking you're going to have positive camber you need to bring in when you lower it?

+1.5 to +3 means it compensates -3 to -1.5 degrees of camber.

I have never seen a car GAIN positive camber when lowered. You will have negative camber and need a positive camber kit to correct it.

I am not thinking that I am going to be having positive camber due to lowering, I am just worried that my camber readings will be something like -.8, meaning that with my current camber kit, at is Minimum setting, I will have +.7 camber (+1.5 - .8 = +.7).

Sorry for not being clear. I am going to be installing this within the next to weeks and need to know if I should get the other kit asap.

Thanks!

You should be more than fine with what you have.

Honestly I wasn't even thinking about that having below a 1.5 camber. So apologies on my end.

I'm lowered moderately at the moment and the +1.5 setting on the anchor kit corrects it to -1 degrees, so I'm actually -2.5 with the lowering job. The acceptable range I believe is like -1 to +1 so you should be fine. I wouldn't worry about selling a kit to buy another.

No problem! I appreciate your help and advice!

So if I do have a camber of say, +.8 (after camber adjustments), will that have a noticeable effect on tire wear and life? I am lowering simply for appearance and don't have the money to keep buying 18 inch tires!

I am lowering on Ground Controls w/ KYB AGX struts and Wicked Tuning camber kit in the rear.

Nope, you should be fine. I've been dialed with -1 for a long time now with no tire wear. I have the printout somewhere for my alignment. If I recall the acceptable amount is -1 to +1 and anywhere in there is just fine. Obviously the closer to 0 the better but it will not kill your tires to be at +.8.

Obviously make sure the toe is 0'd out. That plays a huge part in the wear of tires.

Thanks again man! You have really lessened my worries!

How low are you? And did you run into any problems when installing your suspension? Did you have to replace any bushings?

People told me to get new bushings so I decided to get the Energy Suspension Polyurethane Master kit for the front and the kit for the rear as well. Each kit was over $100 so if I dont have to use a kit that would be awesome!

Will replacing those bushings help? Tons - I'm looking at doing it sometime in the future.
Do you have to do it now? Not really I'd just hold off

I have approximately 5" between my side skirt and the ground front/rear.

You'll run into a problem with the rear lower strut bolt and will either need a big *** breaker bar or air gun to get it off.

Well I guess I will see what condition the oem bushings are in. I have 109k miles.

I should be good to go then! I have never dealt with the suspension aspect of my car, but I am having a few people that are local helping me out. One has done quite a few suspensions on Corvettes and Civics and says he has everything I will need, minus the spring compressor which can be borrowed for free from Autozone.

As far as the bushings, will I need a press to get them in? Or is there another way? And when installing them, do you think I can do it when the car is on jacks or will I have to remove parts? I will have a few tubes of the polygrease so that will be good to go.

I haven't played with any of the bushings yet.

Suspension install shouldn't take more than 3 hours if you have help. Some of those bolts take longer the first time. I think I've swapped all my stuff out in about an hour or so.

Thanks again for your help!

Forgot to mention I also will be installing a no name front strut bar and rear lower tie bar. They were cheap and will be better than nothing I suppose!

Will do!

I bought these kits:
http://www.energysuspensionparts.com...?prod=16.18107
http://www.energysuspensionparts.com....asp?prod=8313

Everytime I got over bumps/train tracks when it is cold my car makes LOUD squeaking noises. Since I have 109k I assume the struts are getting to the end of their life and that the bushings are going bad. When I put my 18's on last week I did notice a few bushings with cracks in them.

I never have installed bushings so hopefully we'll have everything and it wont take a super long time.

Please start your own Threads when asking questions. This reduces the confusion and clutter for the original poster and those giving help.

Thanks.

But yes, some anchor bolt style camber kits will do that.

So I guess +.8 camber should be ok and cause VERY little decrease in the life of tires?

Just checking one last time.

Yes, TOE is the real killer, anything between -1 and 1 you'll be fine.

It is better for you to buy -1.5-+1.5 kit to lower your 97 accord because of the fact that it is well proven and tested.
