what do you guys do that have carbon fiber....wax the **** out of it all the time or clear coat it?

 

when i had a cf hood all did was wax it once a while..it was gel coated kind of thick so i never had any problems with it fading or anything

 

Really? How can you tell...ive waxed mine about 6 times a year and its still starting to fad in spots. Can you get scratches out of them?

 

I think you need to wax a hood more like every 30 days to keep it looking new. If you have fade spots or scratches, you might want to take it into a shop to have them sand it, and then clear coat it.

 

yeah you would want to get it sanded and then reclear coated. i had mines done at a marine shop the good thing about it tho you dont get those ugly rock chips and its also UV protected

yeah carbon fiber has a gel coat like boats do, so marine waxing products are the best, i believe Meguiars has buffing and waxing products as well.

 

Mine looked really bad, sanded it down a little and put a clear coat on it. Its looks awesome

 

Presta products makes a compound specifically for Gelcoats it's awesome and gets the job done.Even buffs away 800grit wet scratches!!

just buy a quality hood.... i have had vis, siebon, ebay... and the vis held up the best. never faded. waxed once every 3 months by never needed it. washed car once or twice a week... go to a body shop see if they will clear coat it and how much

 

Any "jobber" paint store carries it.

 

yea presta make some good stuff used it on my milano red integra and took out all the oxidation and swirl marks off didnt have to use a buffer either!
