Motor Swap
Ok so I asked this over on ClubCivic and no one could really answer it. I have a D15B7 in a 1994 Civic DX. The DX is in horrible condition cosmetically and I don't feel like fixing it up. I just found a 1996 EX shell for a price I cant pass up in perfect condition. Since the 1996 EX has D Series mounts would I be able to just take out my engine, tranny, and ECU out of my 1994 DX and put it in the new 1996 EX. Cause I need something to drive around until I can save for my B18 swap. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Will do. I got the shell for $250! And once I take the D15 out of my Dx and swap it Im going to sell the shell, and start saving for my B18. Thanks alot again guys. On ClubCivic it took 3 hours to get the answer of no. And it took less than 5 here to get a good solid response. Thanks alot again. Honda-Tech FTW!

Ya my best friends Dad's a mechanic and he fixed a guys Corvette and he gave him the Civic shell for fixing his car. And Ive been best friends with his son for 14 years so hes selling it for $250. And if he doesn't have to pay some phone bill or something like that he said he'll just give me the shell. I got super lucky on that. Lol
your gonna need a conversion harness so your ECU will work because the 1996 shell is OBD-2 so your gonna need an OBD2 to OBD1 jumper harness. This site has some but you can find them anywhere.

it really only becomes a problem for inspection. sice your putting an obd1 into an obd2 car they will not be able to read the ecu and can fail your car. But from what i have heard you have it easy as far as inspections go in FL
Ya we do. They actually don't even inspect our cars. I had a Celica and my Civic and all I did was buy them and put them on my insurance. No tests or anything.
Cause the DX is in like majorly bad condition. Like the guy that had it before me riced it out, like spray painted the interior green, put some cheap *** dual exhaust on it and used plumbing pipe, a riced out body kit with a broken front bumper and side skirt, cheap halo projectors that you cant see with, and the front shocks are so shot that the car bounces on every bump. I mean I would love to sell it buy what I need for the swap. But I dont think I could get much for it.

Don't listen to this guy. Do what you want. If you can save up for a B18b1 pretty soon then I would do that. Drive the old beater til you get the EK done then sell the beater. That way you won't have any down time. You always run into little problems.
Ya man that's what Im thinking. Cause that's my only way to work and school.
