01 civic ex misfire issues
i just bought a beat up 01 civic ex 1.7 vtec.
i bought it off a kid that was driving the thing around with the 02 sensor sensor 1 not even plugged in.. anyways. i fixed the 02 sensor expecting the idle to be better and hopeing it would fix the cylinder 2,3,4 misfire. it didnt do anything..
so i replaced the plugs with autolite double platinum plugs. and its still getting misfires. i replaced the cylinder 1 and 4 coils to see if it would change anything, and im still getting cylinder 2,3,4 misfires.
next i sprayed the intake down with brake cleaner seeing if it had a bad intake gasket and couldnt find anything. i dont know what to check for now. could it be a head gasket even if their is no coolant in the oil?

their is a cel on but its for cylinder 2,3,4 misfire and another code just sayin multiple misfires. what i was thinkin is it must be intake gasket or head gasket cuz if it was a sensor like a cam sensor it would throw a code for cam sensor. right? anyone else ever have this problem?

First of all, using expensive platinum plugs when you have a known misfire problem is just silly. Buy some cheap NGK plugs and clean them when they foul from the misfire.
Stop throwing parts at this until your properly diagnose the problem. It sounds like the problem is consistent and repeatable, which means doing this the right way shouldn't be that hard. Personally, I'd first grab stethoscope to listen for the injector, and confirming the injector is opening, I'd go to the o-scope and see what the actual misfire is looking like. If I was still stumped I'd grab the service manual and carefully follow the steps listed in the troubleshoot for the code.
I bought one of these beat up 01's from a high-functioning retard and had to track down all sorts of weird and unexpected problems. If i just tried throwing parts at it I'd be poor and it would probably still be effed up.
