Alright I recently perchased a 88 civic hatch and was wondering how do I tell what trans it has. The numbers by the fill or drain plug thing says PL3/9000. Does anyone know what this means?
Thanks alot

PL3/A### = small bearing case - DX/HF/STD
PL3/B000 = large bearing - SI/ZC
PL3/3000/6000/9000 = large bearing - SI/ZC

Yeah, the guy that posted above is right.

cable si transmissions are usually 9000, and hydro are usually B000.

Looks like you've got yourself an si trans

Also since its an SI trans does that mean my car has SI hubs/knuckles and I wont have to get new ones to run B-Series axles? My car came from the factory as an std or whatever the base model is I believe and the previous owner added all that stuff.

that really is a tossup. is the car an 88 SI or dx? or is it an std?

if you know for sure its a dx or si, then you will be fine with the b swap. if its not or you are not sure, you should count the splines in the knuckle to see what you are dealing with.
